Starry Night This Week
Each week most PBS stations air "Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer",
the world's first and only weekly TV series on naked-eye astronomy. The Starry Night images on this page illustrate
the show for the week of Monday May 11, 2009. You can view the complete show script, or watch a RealPlayer video of the show.
The Moon Visits Three Bright Planets On the morning of May 21. northern hemisphere viewers will be able to see this gathering of solar system objects in the eastern sky about an hour before sunrise.
Get up earlier and look southeast to see Jupiter, and with a small telescope you might be able to spot Neptune as well. Watch for Jupiter's Galilean moons as well -- extending from Jupiter towards the right of your screen are Europa, Io, Ganymede, and Callisto.
