Starry Night This Week

Each week most PBS stations air "Jack Horkheimer: Star Gazer", the world's first and only weekly TV series on naked-eye astronomy. The Starry Night images on this page illustrate the show for the week of Monday April 14, 2008. You can view the complete show script, or watch a RealPlayer video of the show.

Fun With the Big Dipper in April

From midnorthern latitudes, look north and fairly high up to see the Big Dipper. The arrow points to the north star, Polaris.

Turn to face east, and follow the handle of the Dipper in an arc to find Arcturus, and speed on in a straight line to Spica.
